Good morning!
The Senate Education Appropriation Subcommittee Chairman’s
Recommendation for Education funding for FY16-17 is as follows - http://flsenate.gov/PublishedContent/Committees/2014-2016/AED/MeetingRecords/MeetingPacket_3377.pdf
Gaetz put in his budget $10.2
million for the expansion of CAPE academies through a competitive grant
process. One named area was manufacturing. This the first new money secondary
has seem possibly directed their way.
Additionally included in his
proposed budget:
$20 million for the Technical
Center Rapid response competitive grant
$1.5 million increase in
performance for industry certifications.
The proposed implementing
bill and proviso language will come out on Thursday. The proviso language will
have Gaetz requirements for grant submission.
Another interesting aspect of
Senator Gaetz proposed budget is there are no line items for individual funded
groups such as boy clubs, etc. He is recommending a competitive grant process.
We have not seen anything from
the House yet.
